Is Pendel an alternative to the ÖBB app?
For a quick look at your daily train connection, yes. Pendel is an independent web app for train commuters in Austria. It focuses on the next departures for your saved route. For tickets and other travel services, continue to use the train operators’ services. Pendel is not an official ÖBB service.
Do I need to search for my train connection every time?
No. Pendel saves your departure and arrival stations locally in your browser. When you open the app on the same device and in the same browser, your stations are already selected. With location permission, Pendel uses GPS to automatically detect the right direction for your outward and return journeys. If you clear your browser data, you will need to choose your stations again.
Is Pendel free, and do I need an account?
Pendel is free and works without registration. Open the app in your browser, choose your two stations and see your next train connections. The app interface is currently in German.
Does Pendel show delays?
Pendel shows scheduled times and available departure forecasts. Current forecasts are taken into account when available. Real-time information is not available for every connection. Also check the displays and announcements at the station.
